Tennis injuries are considered as cumulative, which means they occur from overuse, acute, or resulting in trauma.

What are Overuse injuries:

Overuse injuries are injuries that occur over time due to continuous stress on the muscles, joints, and soft tissues without proper time for healing. They begin as a small nagging pain or ache, and if not treated early, the pain can grow into a debilitating injury.

Injuries that fall into this category include:

1.   Bursitis of the elbow

2.   Shoulder tendinitis, Bursitis, and impingement syndrome

3.   Frozen shoulder

4.   Wrist tendinitis

5.   Achilles tendinitis

6.   Iliotibial band syndrome

7.    Osteoarthritis of the knee

What are Acute or Traumatic injuries?

To be short and brief acute or traumatic injuries occur due to a sudden force or impact.

Common injuries that fall into this category are:

1.    Torn Rotator CuffIt’s an injury which can range from mild to severe

2.    Tennis Elbow: Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful inflammation of the elbow joint caused by repetitive stress (overuse). The pain is located on the outside (lateral side) of the elbow but may radiate down the back of your forearm. You’ll likely feel the pain when you straighten or fully extend your arm.

3.    Achilles tendon Rupture: It’s a tear which occurs when the Achilles tendon is stretched too far

4.    Hamstring pulls or tears: Occur in back of the thigh and are often occur suddenly

5.    Muscle sprains and strains: They result in pain, swelling, bruising, and loss of ability to move the joint. They vary in severity

6.    Knee injuries: These knee injuries are extremely common, ligament injuries to the knee as you need to require stopping and starting or quickly moving directions.

7.    Torn knee cartilage: These tears are often the result of twisting, pivoting, decelerating, or a sudden impact. Torn knee cartilage is usually a torn meniscus. These small, "c" shaped pieces of cartilage act as cushions between the thigh bone

8.    Chondromalacia: This term refers to the softening and deterioration of the underside of the kneecap. In athletes, this is typically an injury from trauma, overuse, poor alignment of the knee joint, or muscle imbalance

Miscellaneous Tennis pain and injuries:

1.    Blisters: Commonly occur on the hands and feet from frequent show wear for a long time and from holding a racquet.

2.    Delayed-onset muscle soreness: This muscle pain, stiffness, or soreness occurs 24-48 hours after particularly intense exercise or a new program.

3.    Plantar fasciitis: Pain on the bottom of the heel, usually caused in the morning on your first step.

4.    Stress fractures: These fractures are results of overuse and repeated impacts on the hard surface.
